Episode 103: Amelia and Clarice’s Sacrifice

When I returned to the classroom to get approval regarding the student council room, it was almost empty since it was close to the end of the school day and the sun was setting.

However, I thought Amelia might still be there, so I entered the classroom, and there she was, sitting alone in front of some papers, deep in thought.

“Hmm. This part is fine, but that section over there… hmm.”

“Amelia.”

“Ray, you’re late. Did you manage to submit it?”

“Of course.”

“…You look serious. Did something happen?”

“I’ll explain now.”

I sat down across from Amelia and turned to face her.

“I’ll fulfill my role in class. At the same time, I want to help the student council.”

“Student council? Why all of a sudden? Could it be… ah, I see.”

“You understand?”

“Considering the current members of the student council, yes. It’s because of Rebecca-senpai’s engagement, right?”

“Exactly. It seems the remaining members have abandoned their duties, and now it’s just Rebecca-senpai and Dina-senpai handling everything… At this rate, both of them will eventually collapse from overwork. That’s why I offered to help.”

“I see. Well, if that’s the case… since this time the main focus is on the girls, there won’t be much for you to do, so it’s fine.”

“Is that so? I appreciate it.”

I bowed my head.

In reality, I should probably focus all my efforts on class. However, after witnessing that disastrous situation, I couldn’t just ignore it.

Perhaps Amelia understood that, as she quickly agreed.

“Alright, then I’ll make some adjustments for you, Ray. Let’s decide on the days you’ll be in the classroom and the days you’ll be in the student council.”

“Yeah. I’ll leave it to you.”

So Amelia and I discussed the upcoming schedule.

So far, things seemed to be going smoothly, which showed Amelia’s commitment.

After a while, once our meeting was over, she leaned back in her chair and then straightened her back with a sigh.

“Hmm. Ahh… I’m so tired today.”

“Good work, Amelia.”

“It’s fine. I’m doing this because I want to. Up until now, I’ve just been going through the motions for the cultural festival, but this year I’ve decided to enjoy it myself. Because… everyone, and you, Ray, are here for me… right?”

Her eyes wavered slightly.

Even though Amelia had changed, she was still feeling her way through it all. That’s the impression I got. But because we support each other, she must have decided to move forward on her own will.

I feel the same way.

I want to enjoy this first cultural festival as well.

“But!”

Amelia looked up at me sharply, raising her index finger as she said:

“Don’t mess with Rebecca-senpai too much, okay? I mean, she must have her own circumstances, but Ray, you tend to… do things without realizing it!”

“Huh? What do you mean? Messing with her? Is it wrong to help…?”

“That’s not it…! Ugh! If you don’t get it, then fine… but still. With you being like this, I—”

“me?”

“…Well, never mind. Let’s go home, Ray.”

“Yeah. Let’s do that.”

Amelia and I left the empty classroom behind, glancing back at it as we walked out.

I’m sure it will be a vibrant classroom on the day of the festival.

Yes. It will undoubtedly be the best cultural festival.

With that thought in mind, I headed home with Amelia.

The next day.

During lunch break, I decided to eat at the cafeteria as usual.

Now, with Albert joining our group, it feels like we’ve become quite a sizable team.

“By the way, what is Clarice’s class doing for the festival?”

When I asked, Clarice perked up her twin tails and wore a proud expression.

“Fuh, Fuh, Fuh…. Our class is… a haunted house!”

“A haunted house? Do you mean that literally?”

“Yes! We’re going to scare everyone with a ‘rawr!’”

“I see… So you mean to elevate fear into entertainment. That’s interesting.”

Hmm… I see.

I had done some research on the cultural festival attractions, and I was impressed by the variety of events that take place in a school. Just then, Clarice suddenly looked down and muttered quietly.

“I’m looking forward to the haunted house, but… I wanted to enjoy the cultural festival with everyone in the same class…”

That’s right.

Me, Evi, Albert, Amelia, and Elisa are all in the same class. However, Clarice is the only one in a different class among us.

She is worried about that.

There’s nothing we can do about it. We can only hope for a class change next year, but Amelia suddenly hugs the dejected Clarice tightly.

“Nyah!? W-What!?”

“Geez! Clarice is just too cute! Don’t worry, our friendship won’t change just because we’re in different classes!”

As Amelia said this, she began to touch Clarice’s body in an alluring manner. It was as if she was demonstrating a skilled technique. I don’t actually know the details of that skill, but I do know that Amelia possesses considerable technique.

And then Clarice, with a face filled with despair, looked to us for help.

“Nyahhhhhhhh! H-Help me, everyone! It’s happening! Amelia’s usual episode has started!”

‘……’

“I-Ignoring me!? E-Elisa…! You’re right next to me, stop Amelia!”

“……”

“Hehehe… Clarice still has a nice body, doesn’t she? Being small is also quite charming… hehehe…”

“Gyaaaaaaaah! I-I’ll never be able to get married!”

At this point, the four of us distanced ourselves a bit from the two and continued with our lunch.

Amelia’s rampages of this sort never seem to stop. Once, Evi and I tried to intervene, but Amelia acted like a fierce animal, intimidating us.

Since then, it has become an unspoken understanding among us that when this rampage starts, it’s best to just leave it alone.

By the way, Elisa has been managing to avoid it quite well lately. Well, it seems she has her own thoughts about the fact that Clarice has become the sacrificial lamb, but it seems that Elisa also cannot afford to take a hit herself.

“Speaking of which, Elisa. How’s the outfit coming along?”

“Yeah. Right now, we’re discussing some adjustments to the design together. Plus, Albert has quite a bit of knowledge, which is really helpful.”

“Is that so, Albert?”

Albert smiled sadly for some reason as he spoke in a pained voice about the past.

“…Ah. A long time ago, I accompanied my sister to study design and patterns… I was sort of used as a test subject during that time… Well, I can only be grateful that I can use those skills now.”

“I see. At this rate, it seems like Evi and I will be mainly in charge of cooking.”

“Yeah. Well, among our class, the only ones who can really cook are me, Ray, and Elisa. I knew it would be like this with so many nobles around, but it’s quite a challenge.”

As Evi said, we are in charge of cooking. Other students can brew tea, but most of them have never used a knife for cooking, so it naturally fell to me and Evi.

On the day of the festival, Elisa will also step in to help when she can.

However, in reality, the menu isn’t that extensive, and the main attraction will be the service provided by maids, so we won’t be required to have that much skill.

Just cutting and frying.

As long as we can manage those simple tasks, we should be fine.

Amelia is taking care of the supplies, so it should be alright.

As the four of us continued discussing the cultural festival, it seemed that Clarice had finally been freed, but she remained motionless with her head buried on the desk.

Her twin tails had completely lost their energy, drooping down like a weeping willow.

“Phew… I’ve gotten a good energy boost today.”

On the other hand, Amelia was filled with a sense of accomplishment.

Thus, our cultural festival preparations would continue smoothly.

Yes. On the surface──.
